Spotted Hyena

Spotted Hyena

Spotted Hyenas or as they are sometimes referred as, Laughing Hyenas, look like dogs, but are actually more closely related to cats. Meow. They live in groups called “clans” dominated by females and can be made up of up to 90 individuals. The clan is then divided into subgroups and within each subgroup there is a hierarchy. Like most social groups, age, size, fighting ability, and best outfit determine your place in the group. And like most groups of teenage girls, they communicate via whoops, growls, groans, and giggles.
